Nashville’s public schools are projected to hire approximately 1,300 teachers each year for the next five years. Though Middle Tennessee is home to many teacher preparation programs (including top ranked Lipscomb and Vanderbilt Universities), only 431 graduates of these programs chose to teach in Metro Nashville Public Schools in the most recent year. As we seek to dramatically improve our schools, we need to increase the supply of great teachers. Towards that end, we support the following programs:
